LARB is closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and the recommendations of the California Department of Public Health. At the moment, the LARB Publishing Workshop is moving forward as scheduled from Sunday, July 5 - Friday, July 24. We are very committed to prioritizing the health and well-being of our learning community, and should any changes regarding format or deferment become necessary, we will work hard to inform all applicants, speakers, and faculty in as timely a manner as possible.

We recognize that during this period of uncertainty and adjustment many participants may require more time to consider their summer plans. In light of that, we will be extending our deadline for applications to Monday, April 13. We will also continue to consider applications for tuition scholarships, including those co-sponsored by applicants’ home institutions, on a rolling basis through Monday, March 30.

Every summer, the Los Angeles Review of Books hosts a three-week intensive course in Los Angeles on the foundations of print and digital publishing. Workshop Fellows work with 50+ leading industry professionals from all over the country, gaining a comprehensive overview of how the publishing industry works and where it is heading. We are thrilled to partner with our host Emerson College to bring the best of the publishing industry to the heart of Hollywood at their state-of-the-art L.A. campus.

Our curriculum and program of speakers reflect LARB’s commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and independent literary production. See our workshop overview pages for more information about our program and mission.

Applications for the 2020 Publishing Workshop are open now until April 13, 2020. Applications for scholarships close March 30, 2020. Apply now!
