Summer 2022 LARB Publishing Workshop
Online Program: June 20 - July 22
Here at the LARB Publishing Workshop, we recognize the tremendous role the publishing industry plays in shaping cultural conversations. Our aim is not only to train our Fellows for the publishing as it currently stands, but also to revolutionize the industry and the cultural landscape from the ground up by increasing access, facilitating change, and inspiring innovation through the recruitment, training, and mentorship of early career talent from diverse backgrounds.
In addition to lectures, workshops, and one-on-one office hours with over 60 guest speakers from magazine, book, and new media publishing, Fellows will have the opportunity to participate in one of two practical tracks dedicated to magazine and book production. These will culminate in the publication of our online magazine PubLab or books of Fellows' own design.
To keep the Publishing Workshop accessible, the program will be online for the third year in 2022. In addition to online curriculum and opportunities for small group workshops, fellows can communicate and collaborate through our various channels.
Workshop Fellows have gone on to create their own literary ventures or to jobs at journals, agencies, and presses such as Asymptote, Farrar, Straus & Giroux, Hill Nadell Literary Agency, Random House, Red Hen Press, Stanford University Press,
W.W. Norton & Co., among many others.
Applications for the 2022 program : February 1- April 15
The workshop is open to college seniors, current graduate students, people who have recently graduated, and people who have relevant work experience looking to deepen their understanding of the publishing industry and/or make a career change.
